SurgiQ

SurgiQ brings transparent and efficient management of care pathways to acute hospitals. We successfully improved elective surgery and continuity of care settings with impact on waiting times.

Care pathway planning

Surgical treatments are among the most complex procedures to perform. They involve a set number of highly specialized people, dedicated logistic resources, and costly equipment, all while engaging several hospital services.

Orchestrating them properly means covering the patient pathway end-to-end, as a single inefficiency can have knock-on effects. That’s where SurgiQ’s surgical planning comes in, engaging people and resources in the right way at the right time to:

  • Increase quality by minimizing the impact of last-minute changes and disruptions
  • Increase access to care and potentially life-saving treatments for more people
  • Increase resource utilization to improve the return on investment for surgical theatres

SurgiQ integrates with existing patient administration and electronic health record systems via industry standards providing the capability to have all the relevant information about a patient case in a single place.

By integrating our core AI-based automatic planning engine, SurgiQ can provide what-if scenarios and simulations as well as day-by-day operations planning. We support schedulers and managers into planning resources in the best possible way, and by identifying bottlenecks we help deploy countermeasures.

SurgiQ has been proven a flexible and powerful visual management tool and successfully improved on other linked Services, such as internal discharge and continuity of care. Contact us to learn more.

Success stories

Barts Health NHS Trust

Royal London Hospital, London, UK

SurgiQ and Barts have piloted solutions to prioritise, streamline and audit surgical care plan processes, on cancer and non-cancer patients. The SurgiQ dashboards allow live tracking of waiting times, breaches, demand for surgery, clinical outcomes, service effectiveness and efficiency.

Staff surveys indicate that SurgiQ is user friendly and tracks the progress of patient care plan processes, giving real-time access to vital information for the scheduling and planning of pre-assessments and theatre; assisting with the prevention of waiting time breaches. The study also estimated an increase in efficiency and time-saving.

Now, Royal London Hospital, Queen Mary University of London, and SurgiQ are working together to deliver a novel multi-speciality audit system to monitor the impact of the robotic surgery program at the Royal London Hospital.

Ente Ospedaliero Ospedali Galliera

Galliera Hospital, Genova, Italy

At Galliera Hospital in Genoa, SurgiQ manages surgical waiting lists and pre-admission processes in a trackable, integrated and collaborative manner.

The SurgiQ platform allows sharing of all relevant information regarding patient care plan processes in real-time with team members (i.e. surgeons, anesthetists, nurses, and admin); here SurgiQ has notably improved process management. Patient’s rights are protected by SurgiQ’s unique prioritization algorithm, allowing the correct activities and scheduling according to the patient’s clinical urgency categories and waiting times.

Since Galliera is a reference regional hospital for elderly care medicine, SurgiQ was also involved to provide live support to better integrate primarily with secondary care. It contributed to the design and delivery of a new care model supporting a nurse-managed ward, reducing costs, and optimizing bed occupancy and patient outflow across all different levels of care.

Ospedale Pediatrico Bambino Gesù

Bambino Gesù Child Hospital, Roma, Italy

Bambino Gesù is the largest paediatric hospital and medical research centre in Europe, with connections to several leading international centres across the sector and a staff of nearly 3,300 members. It is spread across 4 sites, with a total of 600 beds and about 20,000 surgical procedures carried out per year.

The adoption of SurgiQ has introduced several benefits, including a fully paperless computer-based waiting list and centralised pre-admission management system, thereby improving patient guarantee in terms of integrity and transparency.

All actions and relevant information is tracked, and processed data is audited. The SurgiQ prioritisation system is now a shared tool, helping staff to schedule patients for surgery.

SurgiQ is already integrated with major vendors in the Electronic Healthcare Records market.
